SHERMAN CHUM, PRESIDENT   

Sherman Chum was born in Los Angeles and spent his early childhood in Hong Kong before relocating to Hawaii at the age of eight. This multicultural upbringing fostered his deep appreciation for diverse communities and the value of meaningful connections. After graduating from Kalani High School, he attended the University of Arizona, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Management and a Master of Business Administration, further honing his leadership skills and strategic thinking. In addition to his professional qualifications, Sherman is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, which enhances his ability to connect with a broader range of clients and communities.
 
Currently, Sherman is a Home Loan Consultant with Hawai’i Mortgage Group.
 
Sherman is deeply committed to community service, serving as the President for the Rotary Club of Kahala Sunrise and Vice Chair of the Engagement Committee for The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii's Young Professional group. His dedication to these roles underscores his belief in the power of community and the impact of collective action.
 
In his free time, Sherman enjoys reading, playing golf, and spending time with his cat, Bellatrix, and dog, Mocha, both of whom he adopted from rescue shelters. His love for animals and dedication to his clients and community are central to who he is, both personally and professionally.
 
 

CALVIN HARA, IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT

Calvin Hara has lived in Hawaiʻi and California.  Born and raised in Kaimuki, he from graduated from Kalani High School and then ventured to California. 
 
After a career in long term care, returned home to help his mom, now focuses on community service with various organizations. 
 
Calvin presently volunteers as the President of the Kaimuki Business and Professional Association and the Advocacy Committee Chair and Community Educator for the Alzheimer's Association Hawaii Chapter. He enjoys helping others, from keiki to kupuna.
 

MARSHALL SATO, TREASURER

Marshall was born and raised in Honolulu, HI.  He is a graduate of Roosevelt HS & the University of Hawaii at Manoa & currently works as a CPA for Ohata Chun Yuen CPAs in Kaimuki.  Enjoys music, good food & drink & follows the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Rams with great passion.  The Giants ballpark in San Francisco is his Disneyland.

DIANNE BOSWORTH, SECRETARY

Dianne Ho Bosworth is a Realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Advantage Realty specializing in residential real estate for buyers and sellers.  Offices are located in Kahala Mall, Kailua, North Shore, Kapolei and Maui. Dianne grew up on Oahu, attended St Francis High School, University of Oregon and lived in Hiroshima Japan before settling down back in the islands.  Dianne is married to Bryan and has 3 beautiful children who regularly attend Rotary service projects and social events.
 

ERIKA GALARNEAU, PRESIDENT ELECT

Erika Galarneau is Director of Marketing at Northwestern Mutual Hawaiʻi. She grew up between Japan and New York, spending the school year in Japan and summers in New York as a child. After graduating from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., she began her career in professional services marketing, working at law firms in, Tokyo, New York City, and Honolulu for the past 15 years. Outside of work, Erika is active in the Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals and the Rotary Club of Kahala Sunrise. When she’s not working or volunteering, she’s usually off on an adventure around O‘ahu with her husband, and their two children.
 

RYAN KAWAMOTO, SERGEANT-AT-ARMS

Ryan Kawamoto is an award-winning television and film director with a flair for storytelling and is represented by Kinetic Productions.
 
His latest documentary, "Removed by Force," presented by the JACL Honolulu premiered to Japan audiences in 2025 and ran in numerous film festivals including the 2023 Hawaiʻi International Film Festival. 
 
His 2018 documentary film, “Voices Behind Barbed Wire: Stories of Hawaiʻi,” presented by the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi was awarded a 2020 Preservation Honor Award by the Historic Hawaiʻi Foundation and aired on PBS Hawaiʻi.
 
Heʻs directed numerous advertising campaigns including multi-year TV campaigns featuring NFL quarterback Marcus Mariota for Island Insurance and many local and mainland based clients including McDonaldʻs of Hawaiʻi, First Hawaiian Bank, HawaiiUSA FCU, and Kaiser Permanente.  
 
Ryan was honored as the 2012 American Advertising Federation Hawaiʻi "Advertising Man of the Year."  He also served as AAF Hawaiʻi President from 2022 - 2024.
 
Ryan Kawamoto was born, raised, and continues to reside in Hawai‘i.   He is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Kahala Sunrise and an Assistant Governor for D5000 Oʻahu East & Windward.

ALAN MA, DIRECTOR & PAST PRESIDENT

Born and raised in Hawaii, Alan Ma has been a practicing attorney for 29 years and is currently a partner with the Honolulu law firm of Watanabe Ing LLP.  Alan is a graduate of Punahou School, the University of California at Los Angeles, where he received a Bachelor’s of Art in Economics and Business, and Georgetown University Law School. In his free time, Alan enjoys spending time outdoors, especially surfing, running and swimming.
