RoCKS Represents at District 5000 Conference 2026
The Rotary Club of Kahala Sunrise was proudly represented at the Rotary District 5000 Conference 2026, a weekend filled with inspiration, service, fellowship, and celebration!
RoCKS celebrated Immediate Past President Sherman Chum and now Past Assistant Governor Ryan Kawamoto for their dedicated leadership and service during the past Rotary year. We also proudly recognized Erika Galarneau as our new club president as she begins her year leading RoCKS forward.
Our members played an active role throughout the conference. RoCKS helped organize Saturday’s Peace Walk, bringing Rotarians together in a visible demonstration of Rotary’s commitment to peace, understanding, and unity.
Calvin Hara represented both the Alzheimer’s Association of Hawaiʻi and the Disaster Preparedness Rotary Action Group, sharing important resources and raising awareness of two vital areas of community service.
Another conference highlight was a special screening of Ryan Kawamoto’s documentary, Removed by Force: The Eviction of Hawaiʻi’s Japanese Americans During World War II. The film offered attendees an opportunity to reflect on Hawaiʻi’s wartime history, civil liberties, and the importance of preserving stories that might otherwise be forgotten.
Of course, District Conference was also a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with longtime Rotary friends, build new relationships, exchange ideas, and celebrate the collective impact of clubs throughout Hawaiʻi.
